Lore & Background

The Adjudicator is a representative of the High Table, the supreme governing body of the criminal underworld. Their role is to enforce the Table's laws and deliver punishment to those who violate them. In John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum, the Adjudicator meets with Winston Scott and the Bowery King, giving each seven days to resign from their positions for helping John Wick. When the Bowery King refuses to abdicate seven days later, Zero's students slaughter his men while Zero slashes him seven times with a wakizashi.

The Adjudicator enlists Zero, a Japanese assassin, and orders him to stab the Director through both of her hands as penance for aiding John. Later, after John refuses to kill Winston, the Adjudicator revokes the Continental's neutral status and sends Zero and an army of heavily armed High Table enforcers to kill John and Winston. At the film's climax, the Adjudicator agrees to a parley with Winston, who offers allegiance to the High Table.

Reader's Guide

The Adjudicator, played by Asia Kate Dillon in Chapter 3 – Parabellum, is an agent of the High Table; in the prequel series The Continental, an Adjudicator is played by Katie McGrath. Their primary function is to enforce the Table's laws and punish those who break them. The Adjudicator does not personally engage in combat but instead commands the loyalty of assassins like Zero and his students, as well as High Table enforcers. Their authority is absolute within the context of the Table's rules, allowing them to revoke the neutral status of Continental hotels and order executions. The Adjudicator's defining moments include delivering ultimatums to Winston and the Bowery King, ordering the punishment of the Director, and ultimately accepting Winston's offer of allegiance after John's apparent death.
