Characters
Unit 8 is a special police squad that has permission to operate Will Wears and the ACTIVE system. Because their missions often cause damage to city streets and buildings, both the public and other police departments view them negatively. In Japanese, the unit is simply called "Public Mobile Assault Unit Eight," but official English materials refer to them as "Special Public Security Fifth Division Third Mobile Assault Eighth Unit."
Asami Kazari joins the team as a new member sent to keep an eye on them due to their poor reputation, possibly with the goal of helping them improve. She takes rules seriously, much like Sena, and pilots the Oscar VI Fine Familia. Following the Logos incident, she takes charge of the newly formed Unit 9, and her own reputation ends up even worse than Unit 8's ever was. She frequently mixes English phrases into her speech.
Takeru Kuroki holds the rank of Lieutenant and wears the Oscar 2 Strike Interceptor. He is energetic and doesn't worry much about following standard police procedures. Even though he and his more straight-laced coworkers have different personalities, he feels they get along well. After the Logos incident, he chooses to befriend Mythos and treats him like a younger brother. Learning that Inagi was behind the Willwear crimes destroys the respect Takeru once had for him.
Soichiro Sena is also a Lieutenant and operates the Oscar 1 Elf Sigma. He is serious and describes himself as someone who separates trash, while Takeru is the type who doesn't pick it up. Early in the series, he thinks about leaving Unit 8, but later decides it is where he truly belongs. At the start of the second half, he does leave to start his own garbage collection company. After a new law is passed, he continues to work with the police as a civilian.
Haruka Hoshimiya works as an operator for Unit 8. She is cheerful and has a hobbyist interest in trains, which makes her something of an otaku. She controls the Oscar III Metistructure Ibuki.
Rin Yamabuki leads Unit 8. People often mistake her for being younger than she is because of how she looks. Her job involves cleaning up after the unit's destructive actions and frequently apologizing for them. She pilots the Oscar V Primavera Pantera. She was once engaged to Kotaro Inagi, but they ended the relationship to focus on their separate careers.
Yasuharu Funasaka is another member of the unit.
