Series background

Zoids Genesis takes place on Planet Zi after a catastrophic event called Gods' Fury, which devastated civilizations and the planet. Survivors built new societies around giant structures called Generators. The series returns to adventurous, war-themed styles similar to Zoids: Chaotic Century, focusing on Ruuji, who lives in the seaside village Miroodo and becomes the pilot of the Murasame Liger after excavating it from the ocean.

Plot

Generations ago on Planet Zi, an epic war using Zoids led to the destruction of the world, an event called Gods' Fury. Survivors rode Gildragons for safety; one group founded Iron Rock City, while another built Sky City, a floating city in the heavens. Sky City researched ways to restore the planet but became hubris and no longer desired to return. Their technology was implemented on the planet as generators, which maintain energy and growth. Sky City later faced energy depletion and scouted Zi with secret agents. The council of Sky City traded advanced technology to the city of Digu for Reggel, a universal energy resource from generators. As part of the agreement, a Sky citizen named Jiin was adopted by the King of Digu. Digu developed its own army, the Digald Army, which mass-produced Bio-Zoids using technology from Iron Rock.

Zoids

Zoids on planet Zi depend on a substance called Regel, an orange sap-like fluid from tree-like generators that maintain the ecosystem. Regel may serve as a lubricant rather than an energy source, possibly to keep Zoids near human control. The seven protagonist Zoids are armed with metal Zi weapons that can disintegrate Digald armor. Digald's Zoids have silver plating immune to beam weapons but vulnerable to high temperatures or metal Zi weapons, which melt the coating and disintegrate the structure. Higher-ranking officers pilot Zoids with gold claws or spikes that can block metal Zi weapons. Later commander-type Bio-Zoids like Bio-Volcano have crystal armor completely resistant to metal Zi weapons.

Game appearances

Zoids Genesis first appeared in video games in Zoids Saga DS: Legend of Arcadia for the Nintendo DS. It was featured extensively in Zoids: Full Metal Crash for the Nintendo GameCube, with Murasame Liger and Deadly Kong as playable Zoids and Ruuji Familon, Rei Mii, Thunder Garaga, and Zairin as selectable pilots. The series was included in Super Robot Wars K for the Nintendo DS, and later returned alongside Zoids: Chaotic Century in Super Robot Wars: Operation Extend.
