Sango

A young demon slayer who joins Inuyasha's group to free her brother from Naraku.

Sango is a demon slayer (yōkai taijiya) in Inuyasha, the only teenage girl among the slayers of her village, who were skilled at ridding other villages of yōkai. She lived there with her younger brother Kohaku and their father, the village head, and fights alongside the cat demon (nekomata) Kirara with her huge bone boomerang, the Hiraikotsu.

Background

Naraku wiped out her village and turned her brother into his puppet: on Kohaku's first mission, a demon possessing a castle's lord took control of the boy and made him kill the other slayers, their father among them. Naraku then told Sango that Inuyasha was to blame and sent her after him with a Shikon Jewel shard to dull her pain, but Inuyasha convinced her she had been lied to.

She joined Inuyasha, Kagome, Shippō and the monk Miroku to defeat Naraku, though her own aim was to save Kohaku from him. With Miroku she later went deep into Mount Hakurei, where Naraku was hiding.
