Nigel Mansell is a British former racing driver who won the Formula One World Drivers' Championship with Williams. He then moved to American open-wheel racing and won the 1993 IndyCar World Series with Newman/Haas Racing.

He was the first driver to take the CART title in his debut season, and the only one to hold the F1 world title and the American open-wheel championship at the same time. In the 1993 Indianapolis 500 he led but finished third after a poor restart let Emerson Fittipaldi and Arie Luyendyk past.
