Bardem received the 2,484th star of the Hollywood Walk of Fame on 8 November 2012.[7] During his childhood, he frequented theaters and movie sets, and his initial TV appearance occurred in 1974.[8] He spent four years learning painting at Madrid's Escuela de Artes y oficios, but eventually gave up on it as a profession.[8][2] In the 2007 film No Country for Old Men, Bardem took on the role of the murderous hitman Anton Chigurh.[9]
