Jack Albertson
Triple Crown winner who danced from vaudeville to Hollywood.
He is one of only 24 actors to have achieved the "Triple Crown of Acting".[1] He died at age 74 from colon cancer on November 25, 1981, at his Los Angeles home.[2] Jack Albertson, who performed in vaudeville, was an American actor, comedian, dancer and singer, and he won a Tony, an Oscar, and an Emmy, placing him among the 24 actors who have achieved the "Triple Crown of Acting".[1]

Life and work
Albertson appeared in many Broadway plays and musicals, winning a Tony for Best Supporting Actor for "The Subject Was Roses".[3][4] On television, he co-starred as Ed Brown on "Chico and the Man" from 1974 to 1978, winning an Emmy for that role in 1976.[5] Albertson came into the world on June 16, 1907, in Malden, Massachusetts; his parents, Leopold and Flora (née Craft) Albertson, were Russian-Jewish immigrants.[6] His older sibling, actress Mabel Albertson, gave him his initial instruction in tap dancing "time steps".[6][7]
He became a member of the vaudeville road troupe the Dancing Verselle Sisters, and later performed in burlesque as a hoofer (soft shoe dancer) and straight man.[3]
