Ratchett
The murdered American passenger, really the gangster Cassetti.
Samuel Ratchett is the murder victim in Agatha Christie's Murder on the Orient Express. Having received death threats, he recognises Hercule Poirot on the train and tries to hire him for protection, but Poirot, repelled by him, refuses. He is found stabbed twelve times in his compartment while the train is stalled in snow. Poirot discovers that he is really Cassetti, an American gangster who kidnapped and murdered three-year-old Daisy Armstrong and escaped justice through corruption and legal technicalities.
