Roger Ackroyd
The wealthy widower whose murder Poirot investigates in King's Abbot.
Roger Ackroyd is the murder victim in Agatha Christie's The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, a wealthy widower and owner of Fernly Park in the village of King's Abbot. He tells Dr Sheppard that he had been engaged to Mrs Ferrars, who confessed to poisoning her husband and was being blackmailed, and he receives a letter she posted just before her suicide. He is stabbed in his study that evening, and Poirot eventually shows that the narrator, Dr Sheppard, was both the blackmailer and the killer.
