Lore & Background

Haas is headquartered in Kannapolis, North Carolina, alongside sister team Haas Factory Team. The team also established a forward base in Banbury, England, and maintains a design office in Maranello, home to Scuderia Ferrari's headquarters. Haas was the first American constructor to submit an F1 entry after the failed US F1 project, and the first to compete since the unrelated Haas Lola outfit. Prior to the team’s entry, Guenther Steiner developed a business plan during the late-2000s recession. Support from Niki Lauda and Jean Todt helped secure approval. Haas shook down its new car in December 2015 ahead of official pre-season testing in early 2016. The team approached Dallara to build their chassis, with a power unit supplied by Ferrari. The car passed mandatory FIA crash tests in January 2016.

Reader's Guide

In 2016, Romain Grosjean and Esteban Gutiérrez drove for Haas. Grosjean finished 6th in the team's debut, scoring eight points. In 2017, Kevin Magnussen replaced Gutiérrez. The team finished 8th in the constructors' championship in both 2016 and 2017.

In 2018, Haas unveiled the VF-18, which sparked controversy due to its resemblance to the previous year's Ferrari, the SF70H. The team finished 5th in the Constructors' Championship in 2018. In 2019, the team retained Grosjean and Magnussen and competed as Rich Energy Haas F1 Team. They finished 9th in the Constructor's Championship with 28 points.

In 2020, the same driver lineup continued. Grosjean suffered a crash at the Bahrain Grand Prix and was replaced by Pietro Fittipaldi for the final two races. Haas scored 3 points and finished 9th. In 2021, Grosjean and Magnussen left, replaced by Nikita Mazepin and Mick Schumacher.

The team halted development of the 2021 car to focus on 2022, and secured Uralkali as title sponsor, competing as Uralkali Haas F1 Team.
