Career

Genon trained in electro-mechanical engineering at the University of Liège and later completed a Master’s in Aerospace Vehicle Design at Cranfield University. His motorsport career started in 1995 at AP Racing, where he worked on braking and clutch components. Two years later, he moved to Prodrive to join the Subaru World Rally Team. Over the next decade, he took on several senior engineering roles, serving as race engineer for Colin McRae, Richard Burns, and Tommi Mäkinen.

He rose to Chief Rally Engineer, playing a part in Petter Solberg’s 2003 World Rally Championship win. He also became Chief Test and Development Engineer, steering Subaru’s WRC testing and performance work. In 2009, Genon joined Peugeot Sport as a race engineer on the LMP1 endurance programme, contributing to an overall win at the 2009 24 Hours of Le Mans and further victories in the FIA World Endurance Championship. He entered Formula One in 2012 with the Enstone-based Lotus F1 Team as Head of Vehicle Performance Group, overseeing vehicle modelling, simulation, vertical dynamics, and the driver-in-the-loop simulator.

Promoted to Head of Performance Systems in 2014, he took charge of all performance-engineering programmes, including race strategy, and helped develop major infrastructure like the simulator and transmission dynamometer. He stayed in that role as the team evolved into Renault Sport and then Alpine. In 2025, Genon joined Haas F1 Team as Toyota Project Manager, coordinating the technical partnership with Toyota Gazoo Racing and leading the creation of Haas’s first driver-in-the-loop simulator.
