Two years later, he moved to Spain to serve as Technical Director and Race Engineer for the G-Tec Formula Nissan Team, overseeing technical operations. Nenci entered Formula One in 2002 with the newly formed Toyota Racing team, working as a Data Engineer for Allan McNish.

He shifted to system engineering in 2003 and then to Performance Engineer duties in 2004. From 2005 to 2009, he acted as Race Engineer for Toyota, first with Ralf Schumacher through 2007 and then with Timo Glock from 2008 to 2009. He then moved to the Marussia F1 Team, where he engineered Jules Bianchi to the squad’s first championship points at Monaco.

Following Marussia’s financial collapse, he became Chief Engineer for the Trulli Formula E Team during the 2014–15 season, handling race engineering and chassis development. In 2015, he took the role of Technical Director at Team Rosberg in DTM, working with Audi Sport machinery until 2018.
