Grim Dawn Codexery

Dual Class System

Every Grim Dawn hero blends two of ten masteries.

The game was developed and published by Crate Entertainment.[1] Players can combine two of five classes—such as demolitionist, occultist, or soldier—into a hybrid in the action role-playing game Grim Dawn.[1]

Key facts and history

The developers added a pre-order page to the official website after fans wished to donate to support the project.[2] On April 17, 2012, Crate opened a Kickstarter project page with a $280,000 funding goal, which finished with $537,515.[3] The first expansion, Ashes of Malmouth, was released on October 11, 2017.[4] Crate Entertainment made the development of Grim Dawn public on January 21, 2010, after they had obtained a license for the Titan Quest engine from Iron Lore.[5]

On May 15, 2013, the game's alpha version, designated Build 8, became available via Steam Early Access.[3] Forgotten Gods, the second expansion, became available on March 27, 2019.[6] The third expansion, Fangs of Asterkarn, was first revealed on August 29, 2023, and its release date was July 23, 2026.[7]

What the cited sources add

The Grim Dawn website describes the game as featuring a "dual class system, choice and consequence questing, factions and rewarding end-game activities."[8] The Crate Entertainment forum post announcing Fangs of Asterkarn stated the expansion was expected to release in 2025.[9] A later forum post confirmed the expansion would be pushed back to 2025.[10]
