Stanford Pines
The six-fingered author of the journals, who spent decades stranded in another dimension.
Stanford "Ford" Pines, also known as The Author or Grunkle Ford, is Stan's six-fingered long-lost identical twin brother—and Stan is actually the older twin by a few minutes. Ford is the author of the three journals. In 1982, he was transported into an alternate dimension through a portal underneath the Mystery Shack, where he remained stranded until Stan reopened it in the present day. Ford recounts his partnership with Bill Cipher and how he tried to create a teleporter to enter Bill's realm. On learning of Bill's plan to invade, Ford destroyed the teleporter, at the cost of a dimensional rift leaking out. He is the intellectual force behind the family's defense against interdimensional threats and the keeper of the secrets contained within the journals.
