In Their Own Story
The elevator doors slide open with a hydraulic hiss. James Bond steps into the dimly lit corridor, the air thick with the smell of oil and ozone. Above, a massive missile looms in the central shaft, its warhead pointed toward the sky. Guards patrol in pairs, their footsteps echoing off the metal walls. Bond presses himself against a support beam, watching their pattern. A single shot from his silenced PP7 drops the first guard; the second never hears the kill. He drags the body into the shadows and continues deeper into the silo. In the control room, a technician taps at a keyboard, oblivious to the intruder. Bond disables the launch sequence with a few keystrokes, then hears a familiar voice from behind: 'You're too late, James.' Xenia Onatopp steps out from the shadows, her smile predatory. She lunges, and Bond barely sidesteps her grapple. The fight is brutal, close-quarters, ending with Bond throwing her into the launch control panel. Sparks fly, and the silo's alarms blare. Bond sprints for the exit as the countdown to self-destruct begins.
