Takasugi Faction
The radical shadow that forced the Shinsengumi to confront its own limits and betrayals.
The Takasugi Faction is a group led by Shinsuke Takasugi, a former ally of Gintoki Sakata and Kotaro Katsura. Takasugi leads the Kiheitai, a Joi terrorist group that opposes the Bakufu. The faction includes core members such as Matako Kijima, Henpeita Takechi, and Bansai Kawakami. They are responsible for attacking Katsura and mass-producing the cursed sword Benizakura as a bioweapon. Takasugi's ultimate goal is to destroy the Bakufu and the world that took their master, Shoyo Yoshida, from him and his former comrades. To gain power, he allies with the amanto Harusame space pirates, promising them Gintoki and Katsura's heads.

The Takasugi Faction, led by Shinsuke Takasugi, is the Kiheitai, a Joi terrorist group. They are antagonists in the Benizakura story arc. Their core members include Matako Kijima (the gunslinger), Henpeita Takechi (the strategist), and Bansai Kawakami. They attack Kotaro Katsura and mass-produce the cursed sword Benizakura as a bioweapon. Takasugi's goal is to destroy the Bakufu and the world that took their master, Shoyo Yoshida. In the film, Katsura blows up the factory and destroys all remaining Benizakura save for the one Nizo holds. Gintoki's group eventually declares Takasugi as an enemy, stating that the next time they meet they will show no mercy regardless of their past.
