The island frogfish (Abantennarius bermudensis) is a marine ray-finned fish in the family Antennariidae, found in the Western Atlantic Ocean. Its body is somewhat round and slightly flattened from side to side, with a rough, spiny skin. The head lacks spines, and the large eyes sit on the sides. Its upward-pointing mouth holds small, sharp teeth. The gill opening is small and round, located below and behind the base of the pectoral fin. The first dorsal spine (the illicium) is shorter than the second, with a long, tapering lure (esca) that has filaments and dark swellings at its base. The second dorsal spine is curved and not attached to the head by a membrane; the third spine is also movable and free. The pectoral fins are arm-like with an elbow-like joint. The second dorsal fin has 12 soft rays, and the anal fin has 7. The rear parts of the dorsal and anal fins are connected to the caudal fin by membranes. Color ranges from yellow, tan, or brown, with brown spots and mottles that may form irregular bars on the caudal fin. A dark eyespot sits on the upper body below the center of the second dorsal fin, and there may be zero to seven dark bars radiating from the eye. The maximum recorded standard length is 7.6 cm.

This species ranges from Bermuda south through the Bahamas, off northwestern Cuba, in the Gulf of Mexico (Arrowsmith Bank off Mexico), around Hispaniola and Puerto Rico, and along the northern coast of South America from Colombia to Tobago. It inhabits reefs at depths of 4 to 30 meters.

The island frogfish is an ambush predator, crawling slowly over rocky and coral reef substrates. It uses its illicium and esca to lure smaller fish within striking range. Females are thought to lay over 10,000 eggs. Overall, its biology and ecology remain poorly understood.
