Background

Olivia and the team investigate the deaths of two teenagers with wounds typical of the shapeshifters and find a growing shapeshifter embryo. Thomas Jerome Newton plans to set up beacons to open a portal to the parallel universe, which the team traces to a derelict bridge. Peter closes it with a wave-cancellation device and is knocked out; when he wakes, he realizes that, like the man he saw from the other side, he was immune to its effects, and so is from the parallel universe himself. He is angry at Walter for taking him, and Olivia tells Walter that Peter has checked himself out of the hospital and gone.
