Background
An international flight lands at Boston's Logan Airport with its crew and passengers dead from a mysterious flesh-dissolving toxin. When Special Agent Olivia Dunham's partner, John Scott, is critically injured by the same toxin's precursor chemicals, she recruits Dr. Walter Bishop, a scientist formerly held in a mental institution, and his estranged son Peter to save him. They find a cure but learn the attack was part of a larger mystery called "The Pattern"; John is found to have funded the toxin and is killed while trying to escape.
