Premise
The show splits sixteen contestants into four teams of four, each captained by a military veteran known as the Cadre. Teams face a series of challenges called Evolutions. The entire winning team advances safely, while the Cadre of each losing team picks one member for an Elimination Challenge. That challenge continues until someone quits, fails, or cannot go on, leading to their removal.
Before leaving, eliminated contestants ring a ship’s bell, mirroring the Navy SEAL tradition of “ringing out.” A rule prevents anyone from being sent to two consecutive Elimination Challenges as long as their team still has at least two members. The Elimination Challenge starts with a fixed obstacle course called The Circus, followed by a different endurance test each episode. The endurance test begins only after all three participants finish the course; the first two to finish get an advantage over the third.
The season finale uses an extended Circus, where all remaining contestants compete until three teams have lost every member. The last team standing splits a $250,000 prize per person. The first season was shot near Mount Rainier in Eatonville, Washington, and featured contestants from various fitness levels. Clare Painter and Mark Bouquin of Team Noah won that season.
Season 2
The second season contains 17 contestants ranging in age from 20 to 48. George was originally on Team Grady but later became a member of Team Burk.
