History
Fox first used the "Baseball Night in America" name in 2012, even though it had been airing Saturday baseball since 1996. That first year, the label was used for games between May 19 and July 7. Through 2021, the Saturday broadcasts ran from the last week of May through the second week of July. Starting in 2019, Fox moved its late-season Saturday games from afternoon to prime time, which created a separate September schedule. Some of those September contests aired on Thursday under the "Thursday Night Baseball" banner. In 2023, Fox brought back afternoon Saturday games on April 1, 22, and 29, plus June 24—the first afternoon slots since 2020. Looking ahead to 2026, Baseball Night in America will run every Saturday except June 13 and 27, July 11 (due to the 2026 FIFA World Cup), and September 12 and 19 (because of Fox College Football). Thursday night games are also set for September 3 and 17. Unlike earlier years, when Saturday afternoon windows were limited, the 2026 package now includes all the time slots that were previously part of the lineup.
