Reader's Guide

The exile is what Seldon wanted: on Terminus his followers set up the Encyclopedia Foundation, the start of the Seldon Plan. In the Apple TV+ series, Gaal arrives on Trantor and is drawn into the conflict between the Cleonic dynasty and Seldon's schools.

Gaal arrives straight into this crisis. Seldon defends his beliefs, and the Commission, not wanting to make him a martyr, offers him exile to Terminus, a remote world.
