Conflicto antarcticus is a prehistoric bird from the early Paleocene of Antarctica, known only from fossils found in the López de Bertodano Formation. It belongs to a group of stem waterfowl and is the sole member of its genus. Its build was slender, with legs that were long relative to its body—unlike modern ducks—and a duck-like bill, suggesting that this beak shape appeared early in the anseriform lineage.
The species is known from a single partial skeleton, described in 2019. It measured roughly 36 centimeters in length, with a long head and a neck about half its body length, made up of an estimated 15 elongated vertebrae. Its beak was structurally similar to that of ducks and geese, though narrower, and the nasal openings on the rostrum were wider than those of modern anseriforms.
Conflicto is thought to be a stem anseriform, equally related to all living waterfowl groups. The genus *Anatalavis* may be a close relative, possibly a sister clade, though this link is not certain. Overall, its classification remains unresolved, but it is more likely a stem waterfowl than a crown-group member, having diverged before the appearance of modern anseriform lineages.
