Development
Sports Interactive developed the game and announced it on 7 September 2015. It was released on 13 November 2015 for Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, and Linux. Two other Football Manager games were also set for release in 2015: Football Manager Touch, offering a streamlined experience on Windows and high-end tablets, and Football Manager Mobile for iOS and Android. A demo was released on 15 November 2015, with career progress transferable to the full version.
Reception
Football Manager 2016 earned generally favorable reviews, scoring 81 out of 100 on Metacritic from 34 critics. PC Gamer admired its immense depth but found it hard to get into. GameSpot's Tom Hatfield liked the Create a Club feature and better interface, though he noted it remained slow and inaccessible. The Guardian praised the game's depth and its gradual improvements in user-friendliness.
