Lore & Background

E3 2010 was held at the Los Angeles Convention Center with the show occupying the South and West Halls as well as the first floor. Sony Computer Entertainment and Nintendo had booths directly opposite each other in the West Hall. The South Hall had large booths occupied by Square Enix, MTV Games, Microsoft, Ubisoft, Disney Interactive Studios, and Electronic Arts; medium booths by Sega, Konami, THQ, Warner Bros. Interactive, and Take-Two Interactive; and small booths by Namco Bandai and Tecmo Koei. Notable exhibitors included Atari, who returned after pulling out of E3 2009. Press conferences were held by Microsoft, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Nintendo, Sony, and Konami. Notable appearances included Hideo Kojima, Tetsuya Nomura, Hideki Kamiya, Yuji Naka, Suda51, Shinji Mikami, David Jaffe, and Olympian Shaun White. Lucha Libre AAA held two professional wrestling shows during the convention. Valve's surprise at E3 2010 was revealed to be Portal 2 on PlayStation 3 with Steamworks integration. Square Enix unveiled Kingdom Hearts 3D. The Game Critics Awards, an independent group of 31 North American media outlets, awarded games showcased at E3 with various titles.

In Their Own Story

The lights of the convention hall dimmed as the screen illuminated with a single, trembling petal caught in a gust of wind. There were no menus, no tutorials, only the sensation of being lifted into a vast, open sky. As the crowd watched, the invisible hand of the player guided the bloom through towering grasses, causing flowers to burst into color with every pass, transforming a silent digital world into a living tapestry of motion and light.
