The first spin-off, drawn by Youkow Osada, ran in Weekly Comic Bunch from its 231st issue in March 2006 through its 300th issue in late August 2007. A thirteen-episode anime adaptation aired on Tokyo MX between October and December 2008, and Sentai Filmworks put out a Region 1 DVD in 2009, followed by an English dub in 2010. The story follows Raoh, the oldest of the four Hokuto Brothers, as he tries to bring order to the wasteland with his childhood friends Reina and Souga.
Akimi Asai wrote and illustrated the second spin-off, which appeared in Shogakukan’s Big Comic Superior. It first came out as a three-issue limited series from March to April 2006, then a second limited series of six issues ran from March to June 2007. Both were collected into a single tankōbon released in September 2007. This story covers Yuria’s early life before the nuclear war and how she learns about her precognition ability, which was first shown in the 2006 OVA Yuria Den.
Yasuyuki Nekoi’s entry was serialized in Weekly Comic Bunch from its 286th issue in May 2007 to its 393rd issue in July 2009, filling six collected volumes. It centers on Rei, a master of the elegant assassination style Nanto Suichōken. After the nuclear war, he returns home to find his parents dying and his sister Aili gone. His father’s last words point to a man with seven scars on his chest as the attacker. Rei then travels the wasteland, fighting bandits and warlords, including old classmates from the Nanto Seiken school, while searching for Aili. Before this series, Nekoi drew two one-shots about Rei: one in the Hokuto no Ken tribute issue of Comic Bunch in April 2006, and another in the Sōten no Ken tribute issue in January 2007. Neither one-shot was ever collected in the volumes.
The final spin-off, by Yuka Nagate, was published in Weekly Comic Bunch from its 301st issue in September 2007 to its 363rd issue in December 2008.
