Synopsis
The continent of Arcania is home to a massive Yggdrasil Tree. Local legend says that anyone who reaches its summit will have any wish granted, which draws countless adventurers to brave its dungeons. The four races of the land each hold different beliefs about what waits at the top, but no one has ever confirmed it. The city of Iorys sits near the tree’s base, where people can register as official adventurers and get permission to explore the labyrinth.
Arcania’s four races include Earthlains, who are humans; Celestrians, elf-like beings skilled in magic; Therians, kemonomimi known for physical strength; and Brounies, short, dwarf-like folk with expertise in medicine, trade, and botany. Each class is usually tied to a specific race, but reclassing allows any race to learn any class. Earthlains believe conquering Yggdrasil brings fame and glory. Celestrians think it grants unmatched knowledge. Therian legends promise vast power, while Brounies expect a hoard of riches.
The player arrives in Iorys and meets Edgar, the heavily armored Guildmaster, then forms an adventuring party. They also encounter Ramus, the Earthlain prince of Arcania, who issues orders from the Council Hall. Exploring the First Stratum, the Tutelary Forest, the player meets Lili, a female Celestrian necromancer with pink hair and pale blue skin, aided by Solor, a scythe-wielding female Earthlain mercenary with purple hair and Gothic Lolita clothing. The party defeats an ancient Celestrian guardian golem that blocks the path to the next stratum.
After defeating the Hippogryph and entering the Third Stratum, the Fetid Necropolis, Ramus explains that the area was corrupted by an ancient ruler called the Despot. He orders the player to assist Lili and Solor with their mission there. Together, the player’s party and the duo face the Undead King, a monstrous being who was once Lili’s partner, Crow, before he stole the Ring of Undying. Defeating the Undead King recovers the ring.
