Last updated
Apocalypse Oz, a 2006 short film, merges Joseph Conrad's Heart of Darkness with L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. Its script draws exclusively from the films Apocalypse Now and The Wizard of Oz, using only their dialogue. The story centers on Dorothy Willard, an Amerasian child of the Vietnam War, who flees her abusive foster parents in Kansas. Convinced that "there's no horror like home," she embarks on a dream mission into the desert to locate and "terminate with extreme prejudice" a rogue US Army colonel known as 'The Wizard.'
