E.N.D.

Lore & Background

For centuries, E.N.D. remained sealed within the Eclipse Gate, a magical barrier hidden deep beneath the Fairy Tail guild hall on Tenrou Island. It served as the core of the Eclipse Plan, a scheme orchestrated by Zeref and his followers to trigger a catastrophic event that would bring about the end of days. The demon's power was so immense that even the strongest wizards feared its awakening, viewing it as an unstoppable force of nature.

Reader's Guide

The existence of E.N.D. is inextricably linked to the history of Zeref and the ancient curse that plagues him. Created during a time when magic was less regulated, this demon embodies the duality of Zeref's nature: his immense power and his profound loneliness. The mythos suggests that E.N.D. was not just a weapon but a reflection of Zeref's desire to end his own suffering by destroying the world he could no longer save. The metaphysical rules governing demons in this universe dictate that they are bound to their creators until death, yet E.N.D. breaks this mold through its unique emotional connection.

This anomaly allows it to act with a level of autonomy and strategic thinking unmatched by other dark entities. The Eclipse Gate serves as both a prison and a catalyst, designed to release the demon only when specific celestial alignments occur. In the broader timeline, the threat of E.N.D. has shaped the strategies of major guilds and governments for generations. Its potential awakening is considered a world-ending event, forcing alliances between former enemies.

The lore surrounding this entity highlights the tragic consequences of unchecked magic and the eternal struggle between creation and destruction.
