Lore & Background
Grimoire Heart was founded by Hades, a former member of Fairy Tail who fell into darkness after becoming disillusioned with the guild and seeking Zeref's power. The guild's name is simply the name of the guild, with no ancient grimoire referenced in canon. Their operations are characterized by extreme cruelty and a fanatical devotion to Zeref's resurrection, though they do not perform any Eclipse Gate ritual. The guild's structure is hierarchical, with powerful mages known as the 'Seven Kin of Purgatory' (or 'Seven Kin of Hades') serving as elite enforcers.
Reader's Guide
Grimoire Heart is a dark guild formed by Hades to resurrect Zeref, the Black Wizard. Their primary objective is to use the Eclipse Gate to bring Zeref back from the dead, believing his return will save the world from chaos. The guild consists of powerful mages known as the Key of Grimoire Heart, each possessing unique abilities essential for the resurrection ritual. They operate out of a massive mobile fortress that can travel across Fiore, making them difficult to track and eliminate. Grimoire Heart plays a pivotal role in the Fairy Tail storyline by opposing the main guild and forcing Fairy Tail members to confront their pasts. Their actions lead to major conflicts and reveal deep secrets about Zeref's curse and Hades' true motivations.
