History
Group T3 began in 1990, a year after the broader Group T was split into four specific classes. From its start until 2002, T3 covered prototype cross-country competition cars, with no FIA category for what would later be called lightweight vehicles. The classification then disappeared entirely between 2003 and 2009. It returned in 2010, housing improved cross-country cars until 2018. In 2019, T3 was redefined for lightweight vehicles, splitting into T3-Prototype and T3-Series. The following year, these became the modern T3 and T4, while the former T4 trucks moved to Group T5. Throughout its history, whether for cars or lightweight vehicles, T3 has competed in Baja Cross Country Rallies, Rally Raids, and Marathon Rallies, including events in the FIA World Cup for Cross Country Rallies.
