Reader's Guide
Raimi, producer Robert Tapert and Campbell began the sequel after Crimewave (1985) failed. Stephen King brought it to Dino De Laurentiis, who funded a bigger budget but asked for a film close to the first instead of Raimi's Middle Ages time-travel idea. It was shot in Wadesboro, North Carolina, and Detroit in 1986, with stop-motion and prosthetic effects by artists including Mark Shostrom and Greg Nicotero.
