History
Eon first appeared in Autumn 2005 at a price of US$14.95, sold through the official store on CCP's Eve Online website. The initial issue had 68 pages and was the first commercially available ongoing magazine dedicated solely to an MMO game. After the first issue sold out, it was reprinted in April 2006 as Issue #001.1. Each issue had a fixed print run and remained on sale until its supply was exhausted. The magazine ended with Issue #030, released as a digital publication in January 2013.
Issue contents
Issue #001 contained seven sections: Upfront, In Crowd, Chronicles, In Character, generic features on Eve Online, Testflight (reviews of in-game ships), and Insider's Guides. Later issues expanded to 84 pages and added Alliance Profiles, the Eve Quarterly Report (statistical updates), and the Eve Directory (themed web resources). From 2007, Eon conducted annual Eon Awards recognizing notable players, corporations, and alliances within the game's community.
Spin-offs
In April 2008, Eon collaborated with www.eve-maps.com to produce Eve Strategic Maps, a 74-page ring-bound atlas of every region in the game's universe. It detailed transport networks, resources, NPC types, and player outposts, and included stickers for updating information. A second edition featured clearer presentation and a system index. Each edition came with a large poster map: the first a general route map, the second a detailed overview of low-sec regions.
