Kouta
The male lead, who takes in the girl he calls Nyu.
Kouta is the main male protagonist of Elfen Lied. He comes to Kanagawa Prefecture for university and stays with his cousin Yuka; her family lets him live in the Kaede House, a closed-down restaurant, as long as he looks after it.
Lore & Background
He has buried traumatic memories of seeing his father and younger sister Kanae killed, deaths later revealed to be Lucy's doing, out of jealousy. Partly because of those losses he is kind and protective toward girls in trouble. He first met Lucy as a child, during a summer visit to Yuka's family; in the anime he had with him a music box that played "Lilium".
