Bruenor Battlehammer
Leader of Clan Battlehammer, king of Mithral Hall and patriarch of the Companions of the Hall.
Bruenor Battlehammer is a dwarf in R. A. Salvatore's The Legend of Drizzt novels, set in the Forgotten Realms. He leads Clan Battlehammer and is the patriarchal figure of the Companions of the Hall, the adventuring party he shares with the drow ranger Drizzt Do'Urden, Catti-brie, the barbarian Wulfgar and the halfling rogue Regis. The group first appears together in The Crystal Shard (1988); in Streams of Silver (1989) Bruenor and his friends search for Mithral Hall, the dwarven stronghold he retakes with the Companions' help and rules as king.
He was one of the first friends Drizzt made after leaving the Underdark, and both Catti-brie and Wulfgar are his adopted children. Bruenor dies in a later series, but in The Companions (2013) he receives a second life and sets out to rejoin Drizzt. He is also one of the four playable characters in the 2021 action role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons: Dark Alliance.
