The Hanged Man Case
The Martinaise murder that drives the whole game.
In the video game Disco Elysium, which is set in the fictional world of Elysium, the player takes the role of a detective on a murder case.[1][2] The player character is a detective who has amnesia caused by alcohol and drugs, and the player must solve the murder case in the impoverished district of Martinaise.[1][2]
Geography and history
Prolonged exposure to the Pale can cause mental instability and death.[3] Forty-nine years before the game, a wave of communist revolutions overthrew the Suzerainty of Revachol monarchy.[2] Revachol was founded about 380 years before the game during the Dolorian Century.[4] The Insulinde is an oceanic isola that houses the largest body of water on Elysium.[4]
Le Caillou is the greater of the two main islands, containing Revachol.[4] The Pale outnumbers the isolas' coverage of Elysium 2-to-1.[4]
What the cited sources add
A Game Rant article explains that Elysium is not a sphere but something akin to a disc.[4] The same source states that humanity has discovered around seven isolas.[4] A Postimees article notes that the plot plays out in the fictional city of Revachol.[5] The Postimees article also states that Estonians are privileged to have Kurvitz's novel "Püha ja õudne lõhn" in Estonian.[5]
Seven isolas are known: Mundi, Seol, Samara, Graad, Katle, Iilmaraa, and Insulinde.[4]
