Devilman (1972 manga)
Go Nagai's original manga, which the series updates to the 21st century.
Devilman Crybaby adapts Go Nagai's Devilman, which Nagai began as a manga in Kodansha's Weekly Shonen Magazine in 1972, barely a month before Toei Animation's 39-episode Devilman anime started. The series updates the 1970s setting to the 21st century but keeps the premise of Akira Fudo and Ryo Asuka facing an ancient race of demons.
