The Hobbema Hawks were a junior "A" ice hockey team based in Hobbema, Alberta, that competed in the Alberta Junior Hockey League (AJHL). The franchise joined the league in 1981 as part of an expansion that also brought in the Fort McMurray Oil Barons, and the Hawks played their first game in the 1981–82 season. After taking a leave of absence before the 1990–91 campaign, the team officially folded in 1993.
Over nine seasons, the Hawks played 532 regular season games, posting 193 wins, 324 losses, and 15 ties. Their most successful year came in 1985–86, when they finished with a 32–19–1 record under head coach Peter Driscoll. The team did not qualify for the playoffs in any of its final four seasons.
The franchise’s all-time leading scorer was Daryl Harpe, who played from 1983 to 1986. In 214 games, he recorded 116 goals and 186 assists. After his junior career, Harpe moved to the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL), where he led the league with 122 points in the 1988–89 season and was named the ECHL Most Valuable Player.
