Background
Jack and Maddie met in college, where they studied ghosts and built a first portal with their friend Vlad Masters; a fault in it gave Vlad ghost powers. After marrying they had Jazz and Danny, but often put ghost hunting first, so Jazz grew up looking after her brother. Maddie is the sharp, practical one; Jack is a huge, clumsy ghost fanatic who still invents most of their gadgets, including the Fenton Thermos. Danny hides his powers from them; Jazz finds out in "My Brother's Keeper" and his parents in "Phantom Planet".
