Jarrod Skalde

Jarrod Skalde (born February 26, 1971) is a Canadian ice hockey coach and former professional player, originally from Niagara Falls, Ontario. He most recently served as head coach of Vlci Zilina in the Slovak Tipos Slovenská hokejová liga, with the goal of earning promotion to the Tipos extraliga for the 2022–2023 season.
Skalde began his junior career with the Oshawa Generals, who selected him 15th overall in the first round of the 1987 OHL Priority Selection. In his rookie season, he recorded 12 goals and 28 points in 60 games, adding two goals and three points in seven playoff contests. The following year, he improved to 38 goals and 76 points in 65 games, finishing fourth in team scoring, though the Generals were upset in the first round. During the 1989–90 season, Skalde tallied 40 goals and 92 points in 62 games, helping Oshawa post the best record in the Leyden Division. In the playoffs, he contributed 10 goals and 17 points in 17 games as the Generals won the J. Ross Robertson Cup and advanced to the 1990 Memorial Cup, where he scored two goals and five points in four games to help Oshawa defeat the Kitchener Rangers for the championship. After 15 games in the 1990–91 season, he was traded to the Belleville Bulls in exchange for Rob Pearson. With the Bulls, he scored 30 goals and 82 points in 40 games, finishing second in team scoring. Combined with his Oshawa totals, he had 38 goals and 104 points in 55 games, placing tenth in the OHL scoring race. In the postseason, he recorded nine goals and 15 points in six games, and was named to the OHL First All-Star Team.
Selected 26th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft, Skalde made his NHL debut on October 7, 1990, recording an assist in a 7–4 loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins. That season, he also played three games with the Utica Devils of the AHL, scoring three goals and five points. In 1991–92, he spent most of the year with Utica, notching 20 goals and 40 points in 62 games, and appeared in 15 NHL games. On March 4, he scored his first NHL goal, a game-winner against Mike Richter of the New York Rangers in a 5–4 victory, finishing with two goals and six points in the NHL. He returned to Utica for the playoffs, scoring three goals and four points in four games.
