Background

It picks up straight after Johnny Lawrence's All-Valley win and sets his thriving dojo against two new threats: Miyagi-Do, the rival school Daniel LaRusso opens, and the return of Cobra Kai's founder John Kreese. YouTube ordered the season six days after the first one appeared, in May 2018, with creators Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg again showrunning, writing and directing.

Nine actors star: six back from the first season, plus Jacob Bertrand, Gianni DeCenzo and Martin Kove, who were promoted after recurring or guest turns, Kove having played Kreese in the first three films. Paul Walter Hauser and Peyton List joined in recurring roles, and Rob Garrison, Ron Thomas, Tony O'Dell and Randee Heller from the films made guest appearances.

Leo Birenberg and Zach Robinson composed a soundtrack album. Critics were generally positive while rating it below the first season; the season won an Emmy among other awards and set viewing records.
