Ríos made his debut for UNAM in 1985 and later played for Veracruz, Necaxa, and Club America. He won the Mexican Primera División with Necaxa in Invierno 1998 and with America in Verano 2002. He also won the 1999 U.S. Cup with Mexico and was a starter at the 1997 and 1999 Copa América tournaments, helping Mexico reach third place both times.

Reader's Guide

Ríos is regarded as one of the best Mexican goalkeepers of his generation, though he never represented the national team at a FIFA World Cup. He was known as 'El Arquero De Cristo'.
