Bravo was brought to the Guadalajara youth system by José Luis Real. He made his debut with the senior team under manager Jorge Dávalos on 17 February 2001 against Tigres UANL in a 0–0 draw. He won the Apertura 2002 Best Rookie award. He finished the 2005 Clausura as joint-second top goalscorer with 12 goals and won the Best Forward award.

In 2006, he helped Guadalajara win the Apertura championship, scoring the leading goal in the first leg of the finals. He finished as the club's top scorer for the tournament with 8 goals, winning the Best Forward award. He scored in his first CONCACAF Champions' Cup appearance and finished as joint-top scorer with four goals. For the 2007 Clausura, he won the Golden Boot with 11 goals and the Best Forward award.

On 26 April 2008, he scored his 100th goal for Guadalajara, becoming the 2nd player in club history to reach 100 goals. He later played for Deportivo de La Coruña, Tigres UANL (loan), returned to Guadalajara, then Sporting Kansas City, Cruz Azul, Atlas (loan), a third spell with Guadalajara, Carolina RailHawks (loan), Phoenix Rising FC (loan), and Leones Negros UdeG. He became Guadalajara's all-time top scorer in league matches on 12 August 2015, and later surpassed the record for all goals in all competitions.

He led Guadalajara to win the Copa MX Apertura 2015 and the Supercopa MX 2016. Internationally, he played for Mexico at the 2004 Summer Olympics, the 2006 FIFA World Cup (scoring two goals against Iran), the 2007 Gold Cup, 2007 Copa América, and the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup. In January 2024, he became manager for National Independent Soccer Association club Arizona Monsoon FC, leaving during the offseason.
