Charles Lee Ray
The Lakeshore Strangler, whose soul ends up inside a Good Guy doll.
Charles Lee Ray is the human identity of Chucky, the main antagonist of the Child's Play franchise. Created by Don Mancini and John Lafia and voiced chiefly by Brad Dourif, he first appears in Child's Play (1988) as a serial killer known as the Lakeshore Strangler. Shot by Detective Mike Norris inside a Chicago toy store, the dying Ray calls on Damballa and uses a voodoo ritual to move his soul into a Good Guy talking doll. As Chucky, he learns he can become human again only by possessing the first person he told his real name to, Andy Barclay.
