Synopsis

As a young nine-tailed red fox, Bai Fengjiu becomes lost in the Demon Realm and is attacked by a savage beast, only to be rescued by Dong Hua, the former emperor of the Heaven Clan. Determined to repay this life debt, she enters Taichen Palace as a maid. To save Dong Hua from the Ten-Lotus ward, she is transformed into an ordinary one-tailed fox, which he unknowingly keeps as a pet. Dong Hua searches for her but fails. Fengjiu later repays her debt by helping Dong Hua during his mortal trial, though the mortal Yi Qingti dies protecting her. In heaven and in Qing Qiu, Dong Hua takes interest in Fengjiu, but she avoids him. During a battle, a cyclone sweeps Fengjiu and Yan Chiwu into Fanyin Valley. Six months later, Fengjiu enters a competition for a pimpon fruit, a magical fruit that can revive mortal bodies, hoping to revive Ye Qingti. Dong Hua, serving as a teacher, trains her. After winning, she learns the prize has been switched to peaches and that Dong Hua gave the fruit to Ji Heng. Determined, Fengjiu enters a snake maze and Aranya's dream, where Dong Hua saves her and they acknowledge their feelings. On their wedding day, Dong Hua fails to appear due to Ji Heng's emotional blackmail; he transfers poison from her body to his own and confines her to the Demon Realm. Heartbroken, Fengjiu leaves and begins a new life in the mortal realm with her son Bai Gungun. Before his final battle with Miao Luo, Dong Hua offers her a ring made from half his heart, which she refuses. Learning he is about to die, she joins the battle, and together they defeat Miao Luo. While treating Fengjiu, Dong Hua meets his son Gungun.

Cast

Dilraba Dilmurat portrays Bai Fengjiu, the youngest female monarch of Qing Qiu and the only known nine-tailed red fox, who is the daughter of Bai Yi, niece of Bai Qian, wife of Dong Hua Dijun, and mother of Gungun. Vengo Gao plays Dong Hua Dijun, the first heavenly emperor of the Heaven Clan who united the world, and is Fengjiu's husband and Gungun's father. Zhang Gong appears as Bai Zhi, King of the Fox tribe, and Ma Rui as the Fox Queen, wife of Bai Zhi and mother of Bai Qian, Bai Zhen, and Bai Yi. Baron Chen plays Zhe Yan, the first phoenix deity and a renowned doctor and peach winemaker. Leng Haiming portrays Bai Yi, second son of the Fox King and Fengjiu's father, while Zhang Yufei plays Fengjiu's mother. Huang Junjie appears as Bai Zhen, fourth son of the Fox King. Yang Mi plays Bai Qian, youngest daughter of the Fox King, former female monarch of Qing Qiu, and current Crown Princess of the Heaven Clan, as well as mother of A Li. Zhang Mingcan portrays A Li, child of Bai Qian and Ye Hua. Kou Jinghao plays Bai Gungun, son of Fengjiu and Dong Hua. Zhao Ziqi appears as Mi Gu, a tree spirit and housekeeper of Qing Qiu. Wang Yiming plays Xiao Jingwei, Bai Zhen's mount and Fengjiu's classmate. Jiang Kai portrays the Heavenly Emperor, current ruler of the Nine Heavens. Li Dongheng plays Lian Song, third prince of the Nine Heavens. Dylan Kuo appears as Su Moye, second prince of the West Sea. Wang Xiao plays Si Ming, a deity in charge of mankind's fate. Yuan Yuxuan portrays Cheng Yu, an immortal brought from the mortal realm to the Nine Heavens. Wang Yifei plays Zhi He, a water deity under Lian Song and Dong Hua's adopted sister. Hu Yunhao appears as Xie Guchou, Lord of the Underworld. Zhang Yunlong plays Cang Yi, Deity of Mount Zhi Yue. Chong Ming portrays Meng Hao, an aquatic dragon deity who once served under Dong Hua and is Ji Heng's father. Wang Minghui plays Yun Zhuang, who helped cast Dong Hua's shadow into Fan Yin valley. Fan Zhixin appears as Chong Lin, housekeeper of Tai Chen Palace. Chen Siche plays Yu Ru, Zhi He's personal servant. Wang Mengjiao portrays Zhao Lu, a maid of Taichen Palace and Fengjiu's friend. Li Jinrong plays Xiangli Que, former King of the Biyi Bird tribe. Che Yongli appears as Qing Hua, former Queen of the Biyi Bird tribe. Li Bowen plays Xiangli He, crown prince of the Biyi Bird tribe.

Reception

Eternal Love of Dream surpassed more than 190 million views on its first day of release and exceeded 1 billion views within one week on Tencent Video. By April 2021, the series had accumulated over 8 billion views on the platform. Internationally, it ranked first in online viewership in Thailand and garnered over a million clicks for its early episodes in Vietnam. The series holds a 6.7 rating on Douban and a 7.9 rating on Tencent Video. It won Best Web Series of the Year at the 2020 Tencent Video All Star Awards. Vengo Gao received Quality Series Actor of the Year at the same event and Best Actor in a Period Drama at the 29th Huading Awards, while Dilraba Dilmurat won Most Popular Series Actor of the Year.
