Background

Robinson joined Chicago on March 14, 2018, on a three-year, $42 million deal, in a receiving group with Taylor Gabriel, Anthony Miller and Josh Bellamy. He led the team with 61 yards in his Sunday-night debut against Green Bay and caught his first Bears touchdown from Mitchell Trubisky in a 48-10 win over Tampa Bay. In his first playoff game, the 16-15 wild-card loss to Philadelphia, he set franchise postseason records with 10 catches, tying Matt Forte, and 143 receiving yards.

In 2019 he passed 1,000 yards in a Week 15 game at Green Bay, the first Bears receiver to do so since Alshon Jeffery in 2014, and finished with a career-high 98 receptions for 1,147 yards and seven touchdowns. Nine catches for 123 yards against the Texans in Week 14 of 2020 took him past 1,000 receiving yards for the second straight season. The following week, against his former team the Jaguars, he recorded 103 receiving yards and passed 100 receptions in a season for the first time in his career. Overall he finished the 2020 season with 102 receptions for 1,250 receiving yards and six touchdowns, and the 102 catches tied Matt Forte for the second-most in franchise history in a single season.

Chicago used the franchise tag on him in March 2021, but his production fell to 38 catches for 410 yards in 12 games. At Penn State he had twice led the Big Ten in receptions and yards and won the Richter-Howard Receiver of the Year award in consecutive seasons.
