The 9-in-a-Row Era (1966–1974)
Celtic's first run of nine straight league titles, from 1965–66 to 1973–74.
In Scottish football "nine in a row" means nine consecutive league championships. Celtic did it first, winning every title from 1965–66 to 1973–74, and became European champions in 1967 along the way. Rangers ended the run in 1975.
Lore & Background
Rangers later matched the feat between 1988–89 and 1996–97, but Celtic won the 1998 title to stop them reaching ten. Celtic then completed a second nine in a row from 2011–12 to 2019–20, a spell in which Rangers were out of the top division for four seasons after the club's liquidation in 2012.
