Community and Charity Mission
Celtic were founded to raise money for the poor of Glasgow's East End and keep a strong charitable tradition.
Brother Walfrid founded Celtic on 6 November 1887 to relieve poverty in the East End of Glasgow by raising money for his charity, the Poor Children's Dinner Table.
Lore & Background
The club still keeps strong charitable traditions. The Celtic Charity Fund was set up in 1995 to revive them and had raised over £5 million by September 2013; it later merged with the Celtic Foundation to form the Celtic FC Foundation, which raises money for local, national and international causes.
