The twenty-third season of *Case Closed* was helmed by director Yasuichiro Yamamoto, with production handled by TMS Entertainment and Yomiuri Telecasting Corporation. It adapts Gosho Aoyama’s original manga. While the show is known as *Meitantei Conan* (literally "Great Detective Conan") in Japan, the English title was altered to *Case Closed* because of trademark conflicts. The story follows teenage sleuth Shinichi Kudo, who is shrunk into a child after being poisoned with APTX 4869, and continues solving crimes under the alias Conan Edogawa.
This season features five theme songs: two for the openings and three for the endings. The first opening, "Q&A" by B'z, plays during episodes 716 and 717. Starting with episode 718, the opening switches to "Butterfly Core" by Valshe. For the endings, "Kimi no Egao ga Nani Yori mo Sukidatta" by Chicago Poodle is used up to episode 721. From episodes 722 to 736, the ending is "Ima Aitakute..." by Daigo. Beginning with episode 737, the third ending, "Rain Man" by Akihide, takes over.
The season originally aired on Japan’s Nippon Television Network System from November 23, 2013, to May 17, 2014. Later, Shogakukan compiled and released the episodes in six DVD sets between March 27, 2015, and September 29, 2015, in Japan.
