Jake Delhomme was an American former professional football player who was a quarterback in the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette, then known as the University of Southwestern Louisiana, before being signed by the New Orleans Saints as an undrafted free agent after the 1997 NFL draft. Delhomme played as the Carolina Panthers starting quarterback from 2003 to 2009 and led the team to Super Bowl XXXVIII in his first season with Carolina.

Delhomme led the Panthers on a Cinderella run through the playoffs in 2003, including a double-overtime victory against the St. Louis Rams. In Super Bowl XXXVIII, he threw an 85-yard pass to Muhsin Muhammad, which set a record for the longest offensive play from scrimmage in Super Bowl history. The Panthers fell on a last-minute field goal by Adam Vinatieri.
